After Eight/tea bag dispenser

Hello again

I thought I'd show you a box I copied from Crafter's Companion projects.

I used CC's double sided A3 card and made the tube of the box.

I then cut a lid and base and put them together.

At the base of the tube cut a thin strip and punch half a small circle as shown.  Then attach and stick the base to one of the lids.  The other lid becomes the top of the tube which can
be removed.

The box is then ready to be filled with either tea bags or After Eight mints or something similar.

Thank you for looking.

Some more numbers cards

Hello

You may remember over previous blogs I have mentioned 'age' cards I've made for children to sell.  There were  some numbers I hadn't shown you so here they are:

Again I have used the Jayne Nestorenko Cute Companions Patchwork Numbers stamps for the main number and then decorated each card with the Cute Companion little characters.

I have tended to use 6 x 6 cards and then put a large border and matted the number onto relevant papers in my stash.

I have then decorated each card using small detailed stamps from the Cute Companions characters and positioned them to fit.

The stamps were coloured using my watercolour pencils which I love and feel much more confident using them compared with the alcohol pens.

As you can see although the principle is exactly the same, the cards do look very different having used various colours and characters.

I only used numbers from '1' to '10' but found the most popular cards were from '1' to '7'!  Obviously the older cards were a bit too childish!

I started using different stamps to go with the numbers, for example 'today', 'someone special' or just the number to give a bit of variety as well.

I hope you like the ideas and results.

Thank you for looking.

Downton Abbey - man's card

Hello again

I don't know about you but I really have loved Downton Abbey on the television.  I thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas episode, didn't you?  I am very sorry though that it is now all over.

Anyway when Crafters Companion brought out the Downton Abbey CDs, papers and presentation box I have to admit I couldn't resist, and I bought them all!

Now I'm looking for ideas on how to use them.  So I went to my usual place for inspiration - Crafters Companion blogs!  Im not very good with new ideas - I need something to work from and then I can make changes.  Where I can I refer back to my inspiration.

I had to make a card for my brother-in-law and I find it very difficult to make cards for men so this time I directly copied from one of the blogs.

I printed out two of the Card Companion from the CD and matching papers as well.  Following the example I cut out one of the Card Companions and, using silicone gel raised it up.  I matted the Card Companion and one piece of paper with black card and fixed it onto the backing paper, which was mounted on a 7" x 7" card.

I used one of my stamps for the greeting and mounted onto one of the labels from the Card Companion.  I also cut out four of the buttons which I had sprayed using gold Spray and Sparkle.

On the inside of the card I used the other Card Companion pattern and the rest of the backing papers, which I fixed flat.  This leaves room for me to write on.

I think it is a really ideal card for a man.

Thank you for looking.

The dreaded C word again !!!

Hello again

For once I am going to try and be a bit more organised this year.  Apart from trying to write this blog regularly I also want to try and get my (whisper) Christmas cards done, a few at a time!

So here is one I have done already.

The stamp is from Woodware and I have added some 'zentangling' bits on the letters as well.  The little 'merry' stamp also comes with the Christmas stamp.

As you can see the card does look different when using different coloured card.  I may try making it in black and white - it will either look wrong or stunning.  I'll blog it if it works!  Later on may be!

Thank you for looking.

Picnic Basket

Hello

From the Crafters Companion Ulti-Boxes DVD I found the picnic basket instructions below.  Cute isn't it?

Using A3 double sided Christmas Crafters' Companion Centura card I decided to make it to see how easy it was and also what it would look like.

The picnic basket opens on both sides and there is ample room inside for putting home-made sweets, jams, chutneys etc. in small jars.

It was surprisingly easy to make as Sara Davies' instructions and video are excellent and she takes you through every single step.  The DVD provides both a video and written instructions which can be printed out and used as reference.

It is also quite sturdy although if I was planning to put jars or heavy objects inside I would use either stronger card or even double card.

Another trellis card

Hello again

Again I have made another trellis card using Sara Davies' blog ideas.  In my previous blog I showed you the original trellis card I had made.

This time I used some backing paper from my stash  and the same floral and flourish dies as in my previous blog.

I also used the Crafters' Companion 'With Love' Floral Delights die.  The flowers and words were made with Centura card.

I used some very tiny pearl drops for the centre of the flowers which I had in my stash and also some Gold Pearl Liquid Pearls in opposite corners of the card.

I stamped 'Happy Birthday' inside on the insert.

Thank you for looking.

birthday card

Hello

I'm back in the process of making more birthday cards.  I must admit I'm quite enjoying making them again.

I've been looking at the Crafter's Companion blogs and really liked this one from Sara Davies' blog.

Its not exactly the same but the idea comes from the blog!  I've used Sara Davies' Floral Delights Ornate Trellis for the main part of the card.

The flourish is from the Memory Box Elegant Scrollwork die and the flowers are from the Fabulous Phlox die.

Although it looks quite simple. It is a very striking and effective card and I shall try it in different colours as I think the card will look quite different.

Thank you for looking.

Facetted box

Hello

I can't believe January has already gone and we're now into February!  The days are just going by so fast!

I was so fascinated by Sara Davies' Ulti-boxes DVD, after I made the triangular boxes on a roll, that I wanted to try a couple of other ideas she has demonstrated.  I shall show you the other one I tried later.  This is the first one and is called a facetted box - ideal for popping little items in like jewellery, a cup cake or homemade sweets etc.

As you can see it is a reasonably sized box and the different score lines make the box look quite unusual.  Again this is not very difficult as long as you follow the instructions on the DVD.

Again I used the Crafters Companion A3 double sided card, which makes the little box look so professional as there is no need to line it.  The box has an easy opening lid at the top enabling ease of access.

The finished item.  Unusual isn't it?  Quite impressive though.

Thank you for looking.
